What the colors mean
| Rating | What you should do |
|---|---|
| Green | Keep the same list quality. Scale only after a small send stays green. |
| Yellow | Pause broad promotions. Send only to people who opted in, mostly utility, until recent traffic looks healthy again. |
| Red | Stop the campaign. A red number does not recover by “pushing through”, and a second number is not an escape. |
Quality is based on recent sends. A few days of careful utility messages often lifts yellow. Red takes longer. The operational steps are in the Help Center.
What usually causes the drop
- Messaging people who never asked for WhatsApp, including bought or scraped lists.
- The same promotion, sent again to people who ignored it.
- A marketing template filed as utility, which also risks rejection. See template categories.
- A missing Meta payment method, a paused template, or free text sent outside the 24-hour window. Those fail delivery and get blamed on quality. Check them first.
How to recover
- Stop the campaign that caused the reports.
- Continue only with people who opted in. Record where that opt-in came from. The rules are in opt-in for WhatsApp and SMS.
- Prefer short utility messages the person expects: an order, a booking, a reply to something they asked.
- Start the next promotion small, and stop if the rating moves.
Best SMS Bulk cannot set the color. Meta does, from user reactions. Opening another number to dodge a red rating is how businesses lose both numbers.
FAQ
What is the WhatsApp quality rating?
It is Meta’s green, yellow, or red score for a business number, based on how recipients react. Blocks and spam reports push it toward red and can pause templates and limit growth.
How do I fix a yellow or red WhatsApp quality rating?
Pause the campaign, message only opted-in contacts, and send messages they expect. Yellow often improves after a few careful days. Red takes longer. Do not open a second number to avoid the rating.
Can Best SMS Bulk reset my quality rating?
No. The rating comes from Meta, from how people respond to the messages. We can help you see failed sends and pause a campaign.
