WhatsApp entry points: links, QR codes, and ads

People should land on the Cloud API number your team actually answers. A link, a QR code, and an ad are all entry points. Each one opens a chat the inbox can see.

Build the link

Use https://wa.me/<countrycode><number> with digits only. Example shape: https://wa.me/96170123456. You can add ?text= and a short prefilled sentence. Put this URL on the website, email signature, Google profile, receipts, and packaging.

QR codes are the same URL printed as an image. Test the code with a phone that is not logged into your business app.

Where to place it

What the team should expect

An entry point opens an inbound chat. Answer it inside the service window, with the setup in inbound conversations. Click-to-WhatsApp ads can open a longer care window than a normal user message. When the window ends, switch to a template. Details live in the 24-hour window guide.

Track which link was used by using different prefilled texts (“Hello, I came from the website” versus “Hello, I scanned the box”). OneBox shows that first message.

FAQ

Should the link point at the old phone number?

Only if that number is the one connected to Best SMS Bulk. A personal SIM that you no longer watch will collect chats the team never sees.

Do entry points replace opt-in for promotions?

A person who messages you may be contacted inside the service window. A later marketing blast still needs a clear yes for offers. See opt-in.
